Zikang Hu

Zikang Hu is a dressage rider and trainer with extensive competitive and coaching experience across the China and the UK. He provides dressage training and instruction from beginner to Grand Prix level while actively competing in national and international competitions. Kang is currently training under Grand Prix dressage rider Kaitie Bailey, who delivers regular coaching at Starfield Equestrian.

 

Kang has earned multiple titles and top placings in China and is currently competing at Grand Prix. His major achievements include winning team gold at the 13th Chinese National Games, and achieving podium finishes at the China National Dressage Championships. Since joining the Guangdong Equestrian Team in 2009, Kang has developed into a key dressage rider for the province. Beyond competition, he has served as an external consultant and visiting coach to equestrian centres and organisations in both China and the Netherlands, bringing deep industry insight and cross-border expertise.

 

He has also contributed to talent development in China, working as a guest coach for the Guangdong Youth Equestrian Programme and delivering training to coaches and young riders from multiple riding centres.

 

In addition to his training and competition career, Kang has extensive experience in sourcing horses for clients, supported by strong and well-established connections within the European equine market, particularly in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. He regularly advises clients on horse selection, suitability, and long-term development, and is actively involved in producing horses through the levels, from young horses to advanced and Grand Prix pathways. This combination of market insight, training expertise, and rider experience enables him to offer a highly integrated service for clients seeking both performance horses and sustainable progression in dressage.

 

Kang holds a Master’s degree in Sports Event Management with Distinction from Leeds Beckett University. With a career spanning elite sport, coaching, and industry consultancy, Zikang is committed to advancing high-performance dressage and supporting the development of the next generation of riders.
